Dr Gary Wormser just received 1.5 million dollars in tax payer money to do research on subjective symptoms after treatment of Lyme disease. I could have told them what those symptoms are in over 12,000 treated patients for the price of a cup of coffee (and they are listed in my book).

"Government funding has been misused in a deliberate and coordinated downplay of the seriousness of Lyme disease with its life altering consequences.

The CDC awarded 1.5 million Taxpayer dollars to New York Medical College to support Dr Gary Wormser’s career long bias against persistent infection. His study design excluded the very sickest of patients focusing on the acute stage of disease after early treatment. Imagine a government funded cancer study where stage IV cancer patients are deliberately excluded so as to skew the results in favor of bias?

This thirty year deception and coordinated propaganda campaign has influenced the nation's perceptions and the medical community’s response to Lyme disease"

Dr Horowitz to Luxembourg Parliament Feb 2 2016

There is going to be a scientific debate on Lyme and associated tick-borne disorders, February 2nd, 2016, which will take place in Europe in Luxembourg, during a Parliamentary session. I was asked by a medical colleague in Luxembourg to help present information on the problems with testing, persistence and the role of co-infections. Peter Pepe, who helped produce the original You Tube video, updated the video for the Parliamentary debate. For those of you who haven't seen it, here it is:

The right to be cured

Matthias Lacoste is a patient in France with chronic Lyme disease who is being told that he must return to work, when he is disabled. He is no longer able to support his family as his disability payments are being withheld, and he is undertaking a fast until he receives proper treatment. His choice is one of a desperate patient, taking desperate measures. There is a contingency of French patients that are now considering taking legal action against the government for refusing to review their official testing and treatment protocols. I learned at the Omega Lyme conference this past weekend, that Canadian patients are also looking at taking action because their government did not meet recent deadlines to review the situation in Canada. We send our blessings to all of the people suffering with Lyme and associated tick-borne infections throughout the world, that they may get the help and support that they need to heal from this debilitating illness

Case Report
Are Mycobacterium Drugs Effective for
Treatment Resistant Lyme Disease, Tick-Borne
Co-Infections, and Autoimmune Disease?

Richard I. Horowitz* and Phyllis R. Freeman
Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center, USA
Published: 16 July 2016
Copyright © 2016 Horowitz et al.

Abstract

Introduction:
PTLDS/chronic Lyme disease may cause disabling symptoms with
associated overlapping autoimmune manifestations, with few clinically effective
published treatment options. We recently reported on the successful use of a
mycobacterium drug, Dapsone, for those with PTLDS. We now report on the novel
use of another mycobacterium drug, pyrazinamide, (PZA), in relieving resistant
symptomatology secondary to Lyme disease and associated co-infections, while
decreasing autoimmune manifestations with Behçet’s syndrome.

Method: Disabling multi-systemic/arthritic symptoms persisted in a Lyme patient
with co-infections (Bartonella, tularemia) and overlapping rheumatoid arthritis/
Behçet’s disease, despite several rotations of classic antibiotic and DMARD regimens.
Dapsone, a published treatment protocol used for Behçet’s syndrome, recently has
been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of PTLDS/chronic Lyme disease
and co-infections. It was superior to prior treatment regimens in relieving some
resistant chronic tick-borne/autoimmune manifestations; however, it did not effectively
treat the skin lesions and ulcers secondary to Behçet’s disease, nor significantly affect
the granuloma formation, joint swelling, and pain associated with Lyme, Bartonella,
and RA. PZA, in combination with Plaquenil, minocycline and rifampin, relieved her
resistant symptomatology secondary to Lyme and co-infections, her Behçet’s ulcers, as
well as granulomatous skin changes. In addition, a quadruple intracellular combination
of a tetracycline (doxycycline), combined with rifampin, Dapsone, and a quinolone
(moxifloxacin) was effective in treating reactivation of her tularemia.

Conclusion: Further scientific studies are needed on the role of intracellular
bacteria and mycobacterium drugs like Dapsone and pyrazinamide in the treatment
of both chronic persistent bacterial infections and resistant autoimmune phenomena.

Chronic Lyme Disease A 'Major Healthcare Crisis,' Doctor Says

CDC Grossly Underestimating Number Of Cases, Dr. Richard Horowitz Says
Wednesday, August 17, 2016

While most doctors and medical groups dismiss the existence of chronic Lyme disease, a leading advocate says it’s a "major healthcare threat" to the United States.
..

When symptoms stick around for three to six months, some physicians—who’ve dubbed themselves "Lyme-literate" doctors—classify the illness as chronic Lyme disease. But, often patients are diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis or are even admitted to psychiatric hospitals instead.
..

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there are 300,000 cases of Lyme disease each year in the U.S., although only about 30,000 are actually reported. It also concluded that in the last 20 years, Lyme disease cases increased by 320 percent.

But, many more people are infected with Lyme disease than the CDC estimates, according to Horowitz.

Over 5 million people in the U.S. have been diagnosed with either chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia, but Horowitz noted that there is no test for either condition. Another 2 million people have multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis, some of which Horowitz said could actually be Lyme disease-related.

"When you include the actual known cases of Lyme, and then you add to it all of these other diseases that are mimicking Lyme disease without good testing, you realize that you may be dealing with millions of people per year who are getting it," he said.

Besides being bitten by a tick, Horowitz also warned Lyme disease can be passed from a mother to a fetus or via blood transfusion.

"When you’re looking at the future generations of America—playing on the lawn, the mothers transmitting it, the blood supply—the numbers that the CDC are seeing, which we know are underestimates because the tests are not picking it up, you’re really dealing with a very major healthcare crisis at this point that has not been properly dealt with,” Horowitz said.
