Will history repeat itself or....

WHO European data report a steady increase in Lyme disease cases over the past 2 decades, with >360,000 cases having been reported.7 This may represent an underreporting of true incidence, as suggested by Sykes, who reported 232,125 cases in 1 year in Western Europe.8 The CDC estimated >300,000 new infections per year in the United States – just for Lyme – one of the several tick-borne diseases.9 The CDC estimates do not take into account those cases that are not reported or are misdiagnosed as other medical conditions. In 2012,10 an estimated 0.3% of the United States population were diagnosed, in that year alone, with Lyme disease – well over 900,000 people.

Q: What is it that’s creating the epidemic?
A: It’s because of the deer, but also the white-footed mouse, chipmunks, raccoons, foxes, moles, voles, the ticks are now even on birds. The reason it’s a worldwide epidemic is the ticks get on birds and they go to Canada, they go to China. When I was in China and I was speaking with their CDC … they told me privately 6 percent of the Chinese population had been diagnosed with Lyme.

Approximately 63% [45,46] of people today that are infected with Borrelia, unfortunately, develop chronic Lyme disease.

What Life With Lyme Is Like: Creating Awareness About America’s Greatest Pandemic
By Connie Strasheim
First, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that there are over 329,000 new cases of Lyme disease every year in the United States alone, although these numbers are likely to be much higher; as much as one million per year, by some researchers’ estimates. This is because this statistic doesn’t account for the unreported and misdiagnosed cases, as well as many other factors. Yet Lyme disease is a worldwide pandemic, but remains improperly diagnosed because it mimics symptoms of other illnesses, such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, lupus, arthritis, and many others.
What’s more, conventional tests such as the Western blot and ELISA are unreliable, inaccurate and don’t detect most cases of Lyme. These tests look for antibodies to Lyme, but many people do not produce antibodies in the later stages of disease.
