Het is 2154 op de fictieve maan Pandora van de planeet Polyphemus die in een baan draait om de ster Alpha Centauri A. Een aards mijnbouwbedrijf heeft onder leiding van Parker Selfridge een vestiging op Pandora voor het delven van een kostbaar mineraal, unobtanium (te vertalen als "onverkrijgbaar-ium"; 'to obtain' = verkrijgen, verwerven, bemachtigen). Voor de interstellaire ruimtereis van en naar de aarde worden snelle ruimteschepen gebruikt die de vier lichtjaren in zes jaar afleggen. Bovendien maken vervoerde personen de reis in ingevroren toestand, zodat deze heel kort lijkt te duren. Er is op Pandora een inheemse bevolking van humanoïde wezens, de Na'vi. Ze zijn intelligent zoals mensen, maar technologisch minder ver ontwikkeld.

Kingdom of Heaven; 13 juli SBS9 20.30u

In 1184 France, Balian, a blacksmith, is haunted by his wife's recent suicide. A Crusader passing through the village introduces himself as Balian's father, Baron Godfrey of Ibelin, and asks him to return with him to the Holy Land, but Balian declines. After the town priest reveals that he ordered Balian's wife beheaded before burial, Balian kills him and flees the village.
Balian joins his father, hoping to gain forgiveness and redemption for himself and his wife in Jerusalem. Soldiers sent by the bishop arrive to arrest Balian, but Godfrey refuses to surrender him, and in the ensuing attack, Godfrey is struck by an arrow that breaks off in his body, fatally wounding him.

Edward Scissorhands;

Toen Peg, een deur-aan-deur verkoopster na een pechdag bij het spookachtige kasteel aanklopte waar de uitvinder, en nu Edward, woonde, vond ze Edward en nam hem mee naar huis zodat hij bij haar gezin kon wonen. Edward deed vele nieuwe ontdekkingen en werd verliefd op Kim, de dochter van Peg. De hele (saaie) wijk was heel geïnteresseerd naar Edward, iedereen vond hem geweldig. Hij kon als de beste haar knippen en struiken vormen. Jim, het vriendje van Kim, zette Edward aan tot diefstal omdat Edward alle sloten met gemak kon openen. Edward deed het voor Kim. Hij werd echter gesnapt door de politie en de hele buurt wantrouwde hem, alleen Jim en Kim wisten dat hij niet de dader was. Kim wilde Jim nog tegenhouden maar dat lukte niet. Omdat Edward nog een paar ongelukjes had met zijn scharen door iemand per ongeluk te snijden, zocht de hele buurt en de politie hem...

Pan's Labyrint;

In a fairy tale, Princess Moanna, whose father is the king of the underworld, visits the human world, where the sunlight blinds her and erases her memory. She becomes mortal and dies. The king believes that eventually, her spirit will return to the underworld, so he builds labyrinths (which act as portals) around the world in preparation for her return.
In post-Civil War Spain in 1944 (after Francisco Franco has come into power), protagonist Ofelia travels with her pregnant but sickly mother Carmen, to meet Captain Vidal, her new stepfather. Vidal is the son of a famed commander who died in Morocco, believes strongly in Falangism, and has been assigned to hunt down republican rebels.
A large stick insect, which Ofelia believes to be a fairy, leads Ofelia into an ancient stone labyrinth, but she is stopped by Mercedes, Vidal's housekeeper, who is secretly supporting the rebels, who include her brother, Pedro. That night, the insect appears in Ofelia's bedroom, where it transforms to a fairy and leads her through the labyrinth. There, she meets the faun, who believes she is the reincarnation of Princess Moanna. He gives her three tasks to complete in order for her to acquire immortality and return to her kingdom. Meanwhile, Vidal murders two local farmers detained (erroneously) on suspicion of helping the rebels...
