..De fagentest staat dus nog in de kinderschoenen, maar wordt al wel via labs in het buitenland aan patiënten aangeboden. Het ontbreken van bewijs voor de betrouwbaarheid van de testuitslag wordt vaak niet of nauwelijks aan de patiënten medegedeeld..

Zijn de artsen (nog steeds) 'helden'? die met de experimentele en niet-gevalideerde 'Phelix Phage Borrelia test' werken? Artsen worden vaak 'helden' genoemd door sommige patiënten die zich niet gehoord of gezien voelen. De artsen worden aardig gevonden omdat de patiënten vinden dat er naar hen wordt geluisterd. De artsen komen vaak met kostbare 'nieuwe testen' en kostbare 'nieuwe behandelingen' die de hoopvolle of wanhopige patiënten aanspreken en zij er geen vragen over stellen. Toch blijkt dit juist een valkuil te zijn want de patiënten worden 'in het ootje' (netjes gezegd) genomen waar zij bijstaan! De artsen en de therapeuten verdienen vervolgens veel geld over de rug van de zieke mensen.

Patiënten moeten misschien beter leren om zich zélf ook goed in de materie te leren verdiepen en hetgeen dat wordt gepromoot & geadviseerd door anderen goed te verifiëren en daarmee het risico te kunnen vermijden om ergens (onvolledig geïnformeerd, onwetend, naïef) achter aan te gaan lopen.
Gezondheid is een kostbaar bezit. Een verkeerd gestelde diagnose of een verkeerde experimentele behandeling kan érg schadelijk zijn voor de gezondheid. Patiënten kunnen als gevolg van de behandeling ernstige langdurige (of blijvende) klachten (neurologische en of psychische) krijgen en of blijvende schade aan de darmen en de werking van het afweersysteem (immuunsyteem) krijgen. Mensen worden in dat geval niet beter maar zieker.

Een octrooihouder moet jaarlijks instandhoudingskosten betalen. Deze worden ieder jaar hoger. Wanneer de houder stopt met het betalen van de kosten vervalt het octrooi.
Bij een Europees Patent moeten er per land instandhoudingskosten worden betaald. Het patent(octrooi) wordt verlengd als de instandhoudingstaksen worden betaald binnen de daarvoor geldende termijn. Dat is kennelijk niet gebeurd en komt het patent(octrooi) te vervallen.

Aan het patent(octrooi) kan geen geld meer worden verdiend (het patent verkopen aan een andere partij of licenties uitgeven van het patent). Dat zal een grote tegenvaller zijn ook voor de investeerders (Teulières en Louvet) die veel geld hebben geleend aan Phelix Research & Development.

Bij de genoemde 6.000 mensen uit verschillende landen (België, Frankrijk, Rusland, Duitsland, Nederland, Amerika en Canada) is de diagnose B. miyamotoi/Relapsing Fever gesteld? En op basis van het lopende teken onderzoek met Europese teken met slechts 110 teken uit België, Frankrijk en Noorwegen wordt het door Teulières en Mijatovic gestelde bevestigd?

Met de door Red Laboratories genoemde 6.000 geanalyseerde bloedmonsters met de experimentele en niet-gevalideerde 'Phelix Phage Borrelia test' is er intussen al veel geld verdiend 6000 à €275 (Europa) is €1.650.000 over de rug van zieke mensen. En dan te bedenken dat met de 'Phelix Phage Borrelia test' géén diagnose B. miyamotoi/Relapsing Fever en of Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (ziekte van Lyme) gesteld kan worden(!).

[0032] Induced Native Phage Therapy (INPT) has been used to experimentally target dozens of types of microbes in an estimated 280 chronically ill people, with never before seen results.

[0034] Of these 280 people, in an IRB supported retrospective registry study, 60 qPCR Borrelia-phage blood tests were performed on almost 30 people with previously diagnosed, non-responsive Borrelia sp. spirochete infections. A before and after Borrelia-Phage test was used to first document that they did indeed have the Borrelia infection. A Borrelia-targeted INPT treatment was administered orally two-three times a day for the first five days. Another Borrelia-phage test was performed two weeks after the initial test, allowing 7 days for the Borrelia-phages to die, due to having killed all of their hosts, which were needed to replicate more of the Borrelia phages. The results of the second test showed that in the people who were positive just two weeks prior, that greater than 95% of the people were now negative for any residual Borrelia. A third Borrelia-phage test was performed between 45-60 days after the second test to confirm long term elimination of the Borrelia. Of the people who were negative on their second test, 100% of them were still negative. If there had been any persistent Borrelia anywhere in the body, the 45-60 day window of time would have allowed the bacteria time for several replication cycles and the test would once again be positive. Thankfully this was not the case. Clinical-symptomatic improvements were often above expectations, while others who had suffered from years of damage to their tissues as a result of the many failed treatments and from the illness itself, experienced slight to significant improvements in clinical symptoms, though the Borrelia infection was successfully treated using the INPT treatment method.

..[0051] If a person is re-infected through vector-borne transmission, INPT induced-phages will work as effectively as during the prior infection, as the microbe involved with the infection, will enter the body already parasitized by its phage-type from nature. These native phages will have never experienced INPT induction, and therefore the treatment will work as anticipated. The complete annihilation of the targeted microbe, due to its inability to resist or adapt to the phage attacks, insures against the host from mutating and becoming phage-resistent, as is commonly seen in microbes building resistance or adapting to an antibiotic or vaccine treatment. The INPT treatment has a relative low cost of treatment and short duration of treatment of five days of treatment, with the possible need for a booster round of another five days. An unlimited variety of targets such as microbes/organisms can be quickly and conveniently targeted using the INPT method. The INPT treatment can only affect the targeted type or types of bacteria, leaving friendly flora unaffected. Phages are known to cross the blood-brain-barrier to reduce or substantially eliminate brain infections. The INPT treatment provides little to no ability of the targeted microbe/organism to defend against the induced-phage attacks. Multiple strains and species of microbe can be targeted at the same time using a suitable treatment EMF selection. The INPT remedy utilizes a parallel but somewhat cooperative regulation of microbes with the humeral immune system. Rapid elimination of targeted microbe, with some targeted organisms being apparently fully eliminated within 48 hours. INPT-induced phages auto-dose as their host microbes are killed, releasing prophages from within the host organism. Organisms which are swarmed by lytic phages are also unable to regain their viability. The INPT treatment has been shown, by laboratory testing to apparently completely eradicate bacteria, in a retrospective study of INPT treatment of people with qPCR Borrelia-Phage testing confirmed Borrelia, Borrelia-persistor cells, and different strains of Borrelia sp., typically in less than seven days. INPT induced phages can also penetrate bacterial biofilms to reach hidden target bacteria within the subject..

..Limitations of Conventional Lyme Testing
Treatment-resistant, chronic and apparent relapsing Lyme disease (borreliosis), with its oft associated co-infections which worsen the illness, though once debated, is now well-documented in the scientific literature. Chronic Lyme disease has reached the true status of a global pandemic, though largely unappreciated by the media and mainstream medicine.

Conventional iagnostic lab testing, such as Western Blot, ELISA, and Conventional Bacteria PCR testing for the dectectin of Borrelia spirochete of Lyme disease has had limited success. Most types of conventional tests having high false-negative results, with as little as 30% sensitivity, meaning as much as 70% of people tested, actually have the infection, but never get treatment due to their lab test coming back negative. These people fall between the cracks of medicine as their body and lives fall apart as doctors do not know what is wrong with them, assuming the tests were correct. (See Fig. 1)

The painful reality is that conventional labs which are not focused solely on testing for Lyme disease, often are not as diligent in their testing, not getting paid more to find the bacteria or not, and seeming to forget that there is a real and desperate person at the other end of the blood test. Unfortunately beyond this, the medico-political environment regarding the existence of chronic Lyme disease also gets in the way of getting many, if not most conventional physicians to order the test, even at the pleading of their patients..

..Conclusions
The implications of this review are that Borrelia burgdorferi is likely not the primary culprit in many cases of chronic Lyme disease in the United States, as was previously thought. The other huge takeaway from this study is that many if not most people are not receiving the correct treatment, since the antibiotics typically used for B. burgdorferi are not the same as those used for other strains of Borrelia.

The specific strain of Borrelia bacteria cannot reliably be determined using bands on a Western Blot test. Any lab test that is focusing only upon B. burgdorferi, will miss the true diagnosis of other strains of Borrelia.

The Phelix Borrelia-Phage test is just one of a new breed of phage-based lab tests that will likely become the gold-standard of all bacterial testing. It would be advisable for anyone who suspects that they have or had Lyme disease, yet have either been told they are negative, or who have lingering symptoms to be tested again with the Phelix test.

Our view of what symptoms are typical of classic Lyme disease, based upon the B. burgdorferi model, needs to be expanded to include the symptoms that are unique to the other strains of Borrelia, as their presentation can be quite different, as well as their vectors not being always a tick..

..Results of 27 People with Positive Borrelia-Phage Tests
As seen in Fig. 3 below, many people had one or multiple strains of Borrelia. The vast majority, 52% (14 people) had Borrelia miyamotoi, followed by 42% (11 people) having Borrelia strains that fall under the category of Relapsing Fever group. Relapsing Fever group is illness from one or more of the following strains of Borrelia, B. hermsii, B. recurrentis, B. crocidurae, B. duttonii. No published normative data existed for the use of INPT in patients with LD or RF in that it is an emerging technology; however, prior peer-reviewed technologies support the premise [21]. ..My Eureka Moment!
November, 2019 will always be a pinnacle date in my mind. I was flying to Boston to attend the International Lyme and Associated Diseases (ILADS) annual conference. At the airport store, I bought the latest Scientific American magazine. As I sat on the jet, I read an article on bacteriophage treatment of incurable bacterial infections. Epiphany after epiphany hit me as I read the article. I was highlighting, underlining, and jotting ideas in the margins of the magazine for the rest of the flight. It was a true, eureka moment and the birth of ideas that lead to me developing a new treatment I called, Induced Native Phage Therapy* (INPT).

INPT opened up an previously impossible idea, in fact I don’t think the idea had ever even been postulated, that for once we could possibly cause bacteriophages, that already exist inside the Lyme infected patient, to target and eliminate all of the population of Borrelia bacteria and that we could target naturally occurring bacteriophages to kill any other type of bacteria that is co-infecting the patient!

The ability of bacteriophages (phages) to completely annihilate a target population of certain types of bacteria has been well-documented over the last hundred years, however the technology of getting the bacteriophages that already live within the body to do so in a predictable manner, as in INPT, was never before achieved.

A Eureka Lab Test!
Interestingly, at the Boston ILADS conference was a speaker, Louis Teulieres, MD, PhD, introducing a new type of Lyme test developed by Leicester University Phage laboratory, the Phelix Borrelia-Phage test, a test with never-before-seen accuracy and sensitivity, both for recent infection and long-term infection, using of all things…bacteriophages as the test target for diagnosis.

This test, the Phelix Borrelia-phage test, is brilliant in that all other tests are striving to either find circulating antibodies (Western Blot tests) or they are looking for the DNA of the bacteria in the blood (PCR tests). Both of these tests are fine for what they are, however both are not that sensitive, since the immune system cannot “see” the Borrelia bacteria very well so there are not that many antibodies in the blood, and the PCR is not that sensitive since the bacteria are mostly in the tissues, not the blood.

Without the Phelix Borrelia-Phage test, the before and after success of INPT could never have been confirmed with such certainty. Call it chance, but I call it Divine synchronicity, that my epiphany coincided with the introduction of this amazing phage-based lab test at the very conference I was flying to attend!

The Phelix test is so much more sensitive than any previous type of testing, because it is only looking for the one type of bacteriophage that uses Borrelia as a host to replicate more of that type of bacteriophage. For every one Borrelia bacteria, there are thousands of circulating Borrelia-phages. Would you rather do a test that looks for the relatively few bacteria or the thousands to millions of these phages?

These Borrelia-phages are actually a specific type of virus that exclusively infects the Borrelia bacteria that cause Lyme disease. One of my epiphany ideas on the jet was the idea that, as the article said, bacteriophages are “ubiquitous in nature.” This led me to think that it is highly unlikely to impossible for all Borrelia to not already be infected with this unique type of phage, even when the bacteria was still inside the tick! The next idea was that when the tick or other vector bites the human, spitting the Borrelia bacteria into the body, those bacteria still have the Borrelia-phages. With the advent of the Phelix Borrelia-phage (PBP) testing, we can now determine the presence or absence of Borrelia infection with a much higher degree of certainty..

..Phelix Borrelia-phage testing
No published normative data existed for the use of INPT in patients with LD or RF in that it is an emerging technology; however, prior peer-reviewed technologies support the premise [21]. The clinical advancements of the technologies leading up to the development of INPT took place over the course of 26 years, the effects of which were largely restricted to clinical observation and adjunctive BES testing incorporated into the standard programs of care, until the introduction of the newly released laboratory test, PBP qPCR [22]. High-sensitivity of >90% and 100% specificity, showing no false positives and few false negatives, combined with the speed of verification of treatment effect being only four days post-bacterial clearance, made the PBP testing ideal for detection of early or late LD/RF.

Conventional antibody testing, such as Lyme Western blot testing would not be of use because antibodies remain circulating in the body for years after the infection is gone, and the testing presents a lack of sensitivity, especially in late-stage illness [23]. The limitations of immunoglobulin M/immunoglobulin G antibody testing and the need for more sensitive testing for Borrelia species are well documented [24]. Discussions of any current assay being able to determine an active or inactive infection are not relevant to this review. More important to this review is the apparent frank presence or absence of the infection as indicated by the presence or absence of the bacteria’s native phages. This criterion is achieved only by the PBP test.

The PBP test undergoes quadruplicate real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests for three different targets (B. burgdorferi sl, B. miyamotoi, and RF group) for a total of 12 assessments. All positive-like samples are submitted to confirmatory sequencing to rule out false-positive results. The Phelix Phage test (patent no. WO2018083491A1) is performed on whole blood from two ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) tubes. The very first step consists of extracting the DNA using a specific manual method to ensure the best possible recovery of the pathogenic DNA. The extracted DNA undergoes three different qPCRs using proprietary primers and probes for phage-specific detection. The three qPCRs aim to detect the following targets (i) Borrelia miyamotoi, (ii) Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (B. burgdorferi ss, B. bissettii, B. bavariensis, B. valaisiana, B. afzelii, and B. garinii), and (iii) RF (B. hermsii, B. recurrentis, B. crocidurae, B. duttonii). Each target is tested in a quadruplicate. The amplified fragments are then analyzed by sequencing to confirm the positivity of the sample (i.e., to rule out false positives)..

The PBP qPCR test was utilized as our standard due to its very high sensitivity to detecting the presence of infection and the immediate evidence of the absence of infection post-treatment. Het ontwikkelen van een nieuwe test vraagt veel tijd en geld in verband met de te nemen stappen van 1. proof of principle,
2. proof of concept, 3. onafhankelijke validatie, 4. implementatie.
De 'Phelix Phage Borrelia test' zit (pas) in fase 2. 'proof of concept'. De ontwikkeling van de andere testen ('Phelix Phage Bartonella test' en de 'Phelix Phage Rickettsia test') zitten (pas) in fase 1.'proof of principle'.

Er zullen verschillende klinische onderzoeken, dubbelblind gerandomiseerd placebo gecontroleerd onderzoek (Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)), moeten worden gedaan met verschillende groepen mensen en patiënten om het gestelde te kunnen bevestigen en bewijzen. Dat proces zal veel tijd(jaren) gaan vragen.
Er zal een goede onafhankelijke validatie van de test moeten worden gedaan.

c) In de toekomst zullen patiënten en artsen ook informatie over medische hulpmiddelen van EUDAMED kunnen krijgen en deze informatie kunnen gebruiken om te beslissen of de test al dan niet is uitgevoerd met gecertificeerde en dus wettelijk conforme IVD's..

..Naar de mening van de EU-commissie en de FDA horen producten 'uitsluitend voor onderzoeksdoeleinden' niet thuis in de diagnostiek. Om voor diagnostische doeleinden te worden gebruikt moeten producten de nodige controles ondergaan. Maar deze controles zijn niet van toepassing op RUO-producten.
Iedereen die dit verbod negeert en RUO-producten gebruikt of verkoopt voor andere doeleinden dan puur onderzoek speelt met vuur. Fabrikanten en operators lopen het risico op juridische problemen en kunnen zelfs de gezondheid van patiënten in gevaar brengen. Op het moment van schrijven waren er nog geen peer-reviewed artikelen over de test verschenen, laat staan dat er een onafhankelijke validatiestudie is uitgevoerd of dat de test het EU-proces voor markttoelating heeft doorlopen. De fagentest staat dus nog in de kinderschoenen, maar wordt al wel via labs in het buitenland aan patiënten aangeboden. We conclude that while this technique might be promising, the paper provides more questions than answers and contains a large number of inaccuracies. We would be interested to see the Ter-qPCR be validated on a cohort of clearly described LB patients and healthy controls from both North America and Europe before we could draw any conclusions on the diagnostic performance of the Ter-qPCR..

..Nogmaals, het is misselijk dat patienten zich moeten blijven verdedigen en moeten blijven vechten voor een goede diagnose. En in plaats van dat de media, de stichtingen en de reguliere artsen de reguliere zeer onbetrouwbare testen onder de loep nemen, branden ze de veel betrouwbaardere LTT Elispot af en promoten ze de huidige Elisa en Westernblot..

..LTT Elispot (Lymfocieten)
De Lymfocyten Transformatie Test LTT bepaalt in tegenstelling tot de ELISA en Western Blot niet het humorale maar het cellulaire immuun-antwoord. Deze test is evenals de ELISA en Western Blot geen directe bepaling van een infectie en kan daarom ook niet definitief een borreliose aantonen. Het testprincipe berust op het samenbrengen van het patiënten bloed met specifieke Borrelia-antigenen (Osp A) om een reactie vast te stellen met de T-lymfocyten. T-lymfocyten hebben een geheugenfunctie en als deze blootgesteld waren aan Borrelia dan zullen zij dus reageren (tov andere die niet reageren). Op deze wijze bepaalt men een “stimulatie-index” SI. De T-lymfocyten hebben een kort leven 4-6 weken en T-lymfocyten die borrelia herkennen verdwijnen dus terug als de lyme-infectie verdwijnt.

Dus de LTT-test kan gebruikt worden om het succes te meten van een behandeling en om te meten als er een actieve besmetting is. Dat in tegenstelling tot de ELISA-test waar antilichamen nog lang aanwezig kunnen zijn, of nog niet aanwezig zijn bij de start van de infectie. De test zou 90% terecht positieve uitslagen hebben en 99% terecht negatieve uitslagen. Dit is stukken beter dan de ELISA-test, maar nog altijd slechter dan bv de HIV-test..

Met de Elispot/iSpot Lyme test kan géén diagnose worden gesteld en de test kan niet worden gebruikt om een behandeling te kunnen monitoren. De gevolgen voor de (geteste) patiënten zijn: een onjuiste testuitslag, een gemiste diagnose, een verkeerd gestelde diagnose, een verkeerde voorgeschreven behandeling, veroorzaakte (blijvende) schade aan de gezondheid.
